Claremont Institute senior fellow Glenn Ellmers joined JWI Deputy Director Garrett Snedeker and JWI Intern Seth Root to discuss his forthcoming book, The Soul of Politics: Harry V. Jaffa and the Fight for America. In the podcast, we discussed Jaffa’s views on the moral roots of the American regime and Jaffa’s books, Crisis of the House Divided and The New Birth of Freedom. We also discussed why political life is aptly characterized as having a soul, the difference between equality and egalitarianism, and Jaffa’s legacy and continued relevance amongst conservative thinkers.

Glenn Ellmers holds a Ph.D. in politics from the Claremont Graduate University, where he studied with Harry Jaffa. He is a visiting research fellow with Hillsdale College and a senior fellow with the Claremont Institute. He has served as a speechwriter for two cabinet secretaries and has published articles in the Claremont Review of Books, The Review of Metaphysics, Modern Age, Law & Liberty, National Review, and American Greatness.

The Soul of Politics: Harry V. Jaffa and the Fight for America is available for pre-order from Encounter Books here.
